Sacramento Could Become Transgender ‘Sanctuary’ City in Trans Sanctuary State

City Councilwoman prioritizing trans city sanctuary over $66 million budget deficit, homeless explosion

The Sacramento City Council may soon become a “sanctuary city for transgender people” thanks to a new Resolution by Councilwoman Katie Valenzuela, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America.

California is already a destination state for “transgender” procedures for minors. The State of California became a “Refuge for Trans Kids” January 1, 2023, by allowing minor children to travel to California for trans procedures, puberty blockers, known as “gender-affirming health care.”

SB 107 by Sen. Scott Wiener allows non-parent adults to bring minor children to California for experimental and damaging transgender medical interventions, without the knowledge or consent of their parents.

The Sacramento Democratic Socialists of America made the announcement on X/Twitter:

Sacramento DSA, and DSA member Councilmember Katie Valenzuela introduced a resolution to the Sacramento City Council that will ensure that no city resources are used to oppose transgender people seeking gender affirming healthcare. Link to the resolution in the comments.

In the resolution, Valenzuela’s “Rationale for the Recommendation” is:

“California has been a leader in protecting the rights of transgender individuals to access care, but many states across the nation are moving in the opposite direction. In preparation of future legislation that may criminalize those providing or seeking gender-affirming care and given the Council’s stated values of equity and inclusion, it is important for the City of Sacramento to be proactive in reiterating our commitment to transgender rights and equal protections for transgender people by declaring ourselves a sanctuary city and a place of safety for transgender people.

This resolution would also resolve to ensure the rights of transgender individuals in Sacramento are upheld, and that no city resources – including staff time – would be used to detain individuals seeking care, or otherwise to cooperate with jurisdictions seeking to enforce laws criminalizing gender affirming care in other jurisdictions.”

Note the language prohibiting city resources from being used to prevent access to or criminalize “gender affirming care.”

Last week Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg announced that he would be bring a resolution to the city council calling for a Israel-Hamas cease-fire in Gaza – 7,365 miles away from California’s Capitol city. The measure was passed by the council.

The Globe advanced that it was likely a move to cover and distract from his $66 million budget deficit – and would serve to elevate his political image as Steinberg has his hopes set on a move up to the California Attorney General’s office.

The Sacramento City council will vote on Valenzuela’s resolution Tuesday.

  1. I’ve been in Sacramento for 20 years. I just want to live in a city that “works” not a city that’s “woke.” These so-called resolutions (Gaza ceasefire/transgender sanctuary) do nothing to address the issues and responsibilities that are within the City’s purview. It’s heartbreaking to see the quality of life in the city I chose to move to 20 years ago deteriorate. Would someone please explain to me why it takes months for the City to repair a street light after reporting it to 311? Priorities people, priorities!

  2. I read this and I have to just shake my head. What planet are we on? Before the scamdemic and the Black Lives Matter riots I would come to Sacramento on business. One of my clients and I would have lunch at a small Cambodian restaurant. That restaurant is now closed because of what the state and city government did and failed to do to protect that business. I have seen the pictures of downtown Sacramento that the Globe has shown and it saddens me because I enjoyed that area so much. But never fear Katie Valenzuela is going to make Sacramento a transgender sanctuary city. Maybe Scott the Wieeeeeennnnneeeeeerrrrrr can bring a busload of pedophiles from the Harvey Milk Club to the meeting.

    1. Precisely!!! All of it. 100%. It’s all about divisiveness. Black Lives Matter, Equity, Reparations, Defund Police, Tear Down Prisons, Failing Public Schools, Returning Land to “First Peoples”, LGBTQIA2S++++ Alphabet Soup Mobs, Drag Queen Story Hour, DEI, “Hate Speech”, Selective Censorship, Affirmative Action, Mainstream Media, DSA, Lawfare, Cease Fire and on and on. The United States is rotting from within and it’s all intentional.

  3. This is who Katie Valenzuela is:

I know it’s known that she is bad news for Sacramento but this really spells it out.
DSA is also striving to build a council-member majority on the 15-member L.A. City Council, and elsewhere, of course. Keep in mind this website is meant to tone down DSA and put some honey on it to make it easier to swallow. Be sure to watch the video. These people must be prevented from taking over our city councils, county boards of supervisors, etc.

  4. Commie Katie’s turn to make a distraction and be center stage at tonight’s Sacramento City Council meeting. Last week Slimeberg, next week…?

Move along, no city business to be seen tonight, move along sidestepping the budget hole.
