In a clear sign of his broadening appeal beyond traditional party lines, Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo’s campaign announced Tuesday the launch of “Democrats for Lombardo,” a bipartisan coalition of more than 120 registered Democrats from across the Silver State who are endorsing the Republican governor’s reelection.

The group is chaired by longtime Nevada business leader David Goldwater and co-chaired by veteran labor leader Danny Thompson (former Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the Nevada State AFL-CIO), former Clark County Commissioner Mary Beth Scow, former Clark County Commissioner and current Nevada Board of Regents member Susan Brager, longtime lobbyist and political consultant Keith Lee, and government affairs principal Mike Sullivan of The Ferraro Group. According to the campaign, the coalition underscores Lombardo’s reputation for delivering practical, results-oriented governance that transcends partisan divisions.

“From day one, I’ve worked to serve all Nevadans, regardless of party,” Governor Lombardo said in a statement. “I’m grateful for the support of Democrats who believe in our progress in lowering costs, improving education, expanding housing and health care access, and strengthening public safety. This coalition reflects what is possible when we focus on results, common-sense solutions, and the issues that matter most to Nevada families.”

The coalition brings together business leaders, community advocates, educators, public servants, and rank-and-file Nevadans who say Lombardo’s record has earned their cross-party support. A full list of members is available on the campaign’s dedicated coalition website.

Goldwater, the coalition’s chair, praised Lombardo’s ability to build consensus in a polarized political environment.

“Governor Lombardo has demonstrated that meaningful progress is possible when leaders focus on results instead of partisanship,” Goldwater said. “Throughout his time in office, he has brought people together around common-sense solutions that strengthen our economy, improve our schools, make our communities safer, and create opportunity for all Nevada families. The Democrats joining this coalition may not agree on every issue, but we recognize effective leadership when we see it. That’s why we’re proud to support Governor Lombardo’s re-election and the progress Nevada has made under his leadership.”

The formation of Democrats for Lombardo highlights what campaign officials describe as growing bipartisan momentum behind the governor as he seeks a second term. Lombardo, a former Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department assistant sheriff who won the governorship in 2022, beating Democrat Steve Sisolak,  has positioned himself as a pragmatic executive focused on economic growth, education reform, public safety, and addressing Nevada’s housing, healthcare, and energy challenges.

In November, Lombardo will face Attorney General Aaron Ford, a progressive Democrat backed by nationally recognized Democrats including former Vice President Kamala Harris, California Governor Gavin Newsom, and Rep. Jasmine Crockett (TX).
