Gov. Newsom to Release Report on What the State Did Right and Wrong During COVID-19 Pandemic
A precursor to Newsom’s run for President?
By Evan Symon, July 23, 2025 11:56 am
Governor Gavin Newsom announced earlier this week that a new report on his administration’s response to the COVID-19 will be out within the next month.
According to Newsom’s office, the report itself has been in development for the last few years, with both the California Health and Human Services Agency and independent experts helping put together the 1,000 page document. While there had been some hints of such a work progressing in the past few years, it was confirmed for the first time only last week when Newsom was being interviewed in the Sean Ryan Show podcast.
As the Globe previously reported, Newsom was on the show defending his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent 3-year lockdown of the state. While Newsom mostly danced around questions over what he did during COVID, he was candid over some matters, including decisions in the early days when not much information about COVID-19 was known.
“What are some of the things during Covid that maybe were a mistake?” Ryan asked the governor. Newsom said, “we were worried it was airborne, and about people being outside. And we realized then, after the fact, ‘what the hell were we doing shutting down the beaches, and open areas?'”
However, when Ryan asked him a question posted by fellow podcaster Joe Rogan over Newsom’s decision to require school children to get the vaccine, the Governor revealed that a report on their response was close to completion.
“None of us have really reviewed in an objective way,” said Newsom of the state response. “It’s all through the lens of politics, what we did right and what we did wrong. With humility and grace, I’ve asked them to have that report done. It’s the only report that I know of that’s putting out a truly objective review of what went right and what went wrong. The report will be out next month.”
A new report on California’s COVID response
This led to more details about the upcoming report this week. The report is set to compare California’s response to both the federal response and what California did compared to other states. It will cover all aspects, including lockdowns, school responses, business responses, masking requirements, vaccine requirements, stay-at-home orders, and other areas.
In addition, Newsom revealed that not only were there international experts contributing to the report, but also interviews with those who disagreed with him on his policies.
Despite the extensiveness promised by Newsom, he nor his office commented on how the report would deal with the Governor himself. The list of unknowns includes the effect of his 3 year long COVID-19 official State of Emergency, his multiple instances of breaking his own COVID policies (French Laundry incident, Mexican travels, maskgate), the continual rescheduling of state re-opening plans, his record 58 COVID related Executive Orders made within 9 months in 2020, the $31 billion EDD unemployment fraud scandal, the $1 billion BYD Chinese mask scandal, his multiple failed homeless COVID housing plans, and more.
The upcoming report also gained the ire of many for it’s timing. Many lawmakers claimed the report would help crush future criticism during a possible presidential run, by nipping COVID related problems and scandals in the bud now through a state-sponsored report. Others pointed out that the report may not go on about lingering effects of the lockdown, like business closures and education rates, which are still affecting California today.
“Obviously, the governor is doing everything he can to position himself to run for President and he probably knows this is something that’s going to come under a great deal of scrutiny,” explained Congressman Kevin Kiley (R-CA). “We have seen very negative repercussions that linger to this day when it comes to our students falling behind in school, when it comes to small businesses that have closed, permanently, that were really community treasures, that aren’t there anymore. When it comes to the mental health and development of our young people. And at the end of the day, you’ve got to ask the question, what good did it do?”.
The report is to be released sometime in August.

Well apart from all the usual ones – every single bit of established public heath science and clinical practice was torn up in March 2020 due to mass hysteria – the real fun one which I am sure they will bury is that even by their own criteria of meaningless testing the in-state testing system had totally collapsed by mid February 2020.
There was such a huge backlog and the management so incompetent (sound familiar?) that no timely or meaningful testing results were being delivered before September 2020. All public health statistics in the state of California during the two quarters of 2020 when there were actual elevated pneumonia deaths (but still within the 10 year range) among the over 70’s from a novel coronavirus (one of the most common causes of childhood respiratory infections) are meaningless. What statistic you see are “reconstructed” or “modelled”. That is just made up.
Not that the tests they used actually tested for anything. Most positives were false positives and there we so many false negatives that the test had not clinical validity. Do to some very basic math and the statistics of low prevalence in a given population.
But thats another story. I mean scandal.
That’s a big one, tfourier, definitely. And in general in their arrogance and rushed desire to alarm and thus tyrannize the public they completely threw out time-tested epidemiological standards, the core of which had been in use and trusted for, what? —- at least 200 years?
It will be a bogus report full of lies. Newsom needs to be hauled before a tribunal and be held accountable for his many crimes against humanity during that plandemic. He and his wretched soul have a lot to account for.
You’re late, Guber, by years (as usual).
Oh Please!
What did this report cost us taxpayers? And why do we need it? I can sum it up- Newsom locked us down for 3 years with draconian rules and all the ramifications that they caused, while he and his family lived their best lives.
Boom!
Lost in space succinctly described Newsolini’s covid response!
Brandon(he/him) will spend sleepless nights helping Gov Gav rewrite history!
This just in from the covid19.ca.gov website:
“2024-2025 COVID-19 vaccines are available now! These vaccines protect against currently circulating variants and help protect against severe illness from COVID-19. It is recommended that everyone 6 months and older get a 2024-2025 COVID-19 vaccine.”
Hey, everyone, Newsom says you need to take your baby down to the doctor’s office and get your baby injected with experimental drugs, because your baby might get Covid 19.
My apologies, but I could only get through a couple paragraphs before I had to quit reading it. It’s easy to understand without a doubt what was wrong with the draconian response to covid. It was the establishment reliance on the chairman mao method to gain permanent control over a population during a crisis, nothing more, nothing less. The only thing Newsom could possibly regret is that the public at large eventually saw through the ruse, and the two or three times since covid the communist national bullhorn tried to make a frightening epidemic out of things like the monkey virus and the bird flue, the public yawned and ignored them.
The “What we did right” SHOULD be REEEEEEAL short….
Unfortunately, what “We did WRONG” WILL be real short…
What a tool, Newscum is…. three years of dystopian mindfkery from this narcissistic a-hole and his band of Democrat minions…. every time I go to our neighborhood park and recall the yellow caution tape with all the swings tied up, I get angry all over again….
All to swing the election to Brandon and the auto-pen….
Give this report to Tom Sawyer and he will be able to paint 100 miles of fence.
Nothing was done right. covid is, was, and always will be a crime against humanity. All who pushed the shots and any restrictions are evil and should be treated as such.
