A bill that would have made sexual education in public schools an ‘opt-in’ program failed to move forward in a Senate Education Committee Wednesday.

SB 673, authored by Senator Mike Morrell (R-Rancho Cucamonga), would have required permission slips filled out by parents to allow children to go to sex ed classes up through the sixth grade.

Supporters of the bill demanded choice on how sex would be brought up to children, concern with how some aspects of sex and sexually transmitted diseases were presented, and wanted more parental review on sex ed being taught in classrooms. Many supporters, including parents and religious leaders, also demonstrated outside the Capitol Building Wednesday morning before the vote.

“Over the last two years, I’ve heard from parents all over our state who have voiced concerns about the content of the new sex education curriculum,” stated Senator Morrell before the vote. “They’ve shared with me their view that much of what’s available for young students is unsuitable and indecent.”

After nearly a year of SB 673 being bounced around vote dates, committee meetings, and other delays, the committee finally voted 5 to 2  against the bill, voting strictly on party lines.

“My friends across the aisle voted it all down,” said Senator Morrell after the vote. “Apparently they want to cut parents out of the loop. They say it is unnecessary to post everything. Kind of amazing to me.”

A source in the Capitol Building, ‘Dana’, noted that many supporters did not take the news of the defeat lightly.

“There were a lot of emails and calls coming in to different staffs after that,” explained Dana. “For people who say they want the best for their children they sure do swear loudly.”

Many health officials, women’s groups, educator groups, and teacher unions supported the decision, saying that early basic sexual education is a crucial base for future education on the subject, that sex education has lowered STD and teenage pregnancy rates, and note that parents can still opt-out their kids if they so choose. It should be noted however that despite an over declination of STD rates  over several decades, STD cases have recently spiked in California and have seen their highest rates in the state in thirty years.

“We believe that school districts should have the flexibility to provide instruction appropriate for their students, and that the current law provides parents the opportunity to opt out of sexual health instruction should they choose to do so,” stated a representative for the California Federation of Teachers, a state teachers union.

Despite the defeat on Wednesday, Senator Morrell has vowed to bring similar legislation in coming sessions with the intent of  “giving parents more control over how their children are taught about sex education” in California public schools.

Of course, the #DemParty and the teacher unions will not allow children out of their ideological clutches. Their #SeXXXEd is an integral part of their efforts to undermine parents, the family and the Judeo-Christian principles on which America is based.

#SeXXXEd is so graphic and pornographic that if you showed the materials to children outside the #GovernmentRunSchools, you would be arrested and prosecuted as a sex criminal.

    ******************************
#SeXXXEd is more evidence, if you need any, that if you love God, if you love America, and/or if you love your children, find a way to get them out of the #GovernmentRunSchools where they will be dumbed down academically, patriotically, religiously and morally.

Homeschooling or private school may save your children, but to save the next generation and our country, the only possible solution is #SchoolChoice.

Homeschooling or private school may reduce your family income or standard of living. But what are your children and your country worth?

    ******************************
If you are a grandparent, that loves God, America and/or your grandchildren, encourage your children, [the parents], to get your grandchildren out of the #GovernmentRunSchools.

If the parents feel the need to work outside the home, you can offer to home school or help home school them. You can offer to help pay or help pay the cost of private school as you are able. You can encourage your pastor to start a church school and offer to volunteer and/or contribute.

Getting your grandchildren out of the #GovernmentRunSchools may be the greatest service you can render to America and your grandchildren.

    1. Amen Gregory. Yeah, I’m in one of the “better” public schools, but I witnessed how “common core” essentially wants to indoctrinate and make no kid stand out as smarter or different. We pulled our daughter out and she’s now in a Charter School (for home schoolers) two days/week. You can get state funds to pay for most of it and then your child is going to school with kids with like-minded parents who really care about their children. The state is trying to stop all of these Charter schools with all kinds of technicalities, but hopefully they won’t be successful.

  2. This quote is completely bogus from your article and doesn’t reflect accurately what happened! “We believe that school districts should have the flexibility to provide instruction appropriate for their students, and that the current law provides parents the opportunity to opt out of sexual health instruction should they choose to do so,” stated a representative for the California Federation of Teachers, a state teachers union.” What 20 people in opposition showed up to speak against? Did any of them pay their way there? No, their organization paid their way there. The approximate 200 parents who showed up paid their own way to speak in support of the bill. PLUS YOU FAILED TO MENTION 50,000 PIECES OF MAIL IN SUPPORT OF THIS BILL DIDN’T INFLUENCE THIS COMMITTEE? Many of those letters were HANDWRITTEN BY CALIFORNIANS in support of the bill! What did influence the committee? Big money! From democrat organizations, that’s what! Shame on you CA Globe! Any respect for your reporting that I had for you is now gone.

  3. I doubt that there were any emails to “staffs” as Dana said that were full of expletives. Most of the people there were Christians. These people lie like the devil, they are bought and paid for by Planned Parenthood. Congresswoman Leyva was rolling her eyes at Senator Morrell and also told us that none of us want to teach our children sex education. She has a lot of gall to say that. We don’t want perverted sex taught to our kids at a young age. We want to know what is being taught to them. These people on the education committee that voted no were already bought and paid for but feigned interest in the bill to appease us. A mockery of democracy is what this was.
