One Year after Roe v. Wade Overturned by Supreme Court

‘The Constitution makes no reference to abortion, and no such right is implicitly protected by any constitutional provision’

By Katy Grimes, June 24, 2023 8:29 am

One year ago the United States Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.

Justice Samuel Alito wrote the opinion, and noted “The Constitution makes no reference to abortion, and no such right is implicitly protected by any constitutional provision, including the one on which the defenders of Roe and Casey now chiefly rely—the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.”

Pro-life proponents say since the Supreme Court decision, “reports show that in the last year, the number of abortions has decreased significantly across much of the United States – “24,290 fewer legal abortions between July 2022 and March 2023.”

The U.S. Supreme Court draft decision was leaked in May 2022, and almost immediately, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a father of four, jumped on the band wagon: “Our daughters, sisters, mothers, and grandmothers will not be silenced,” Newsom tweeted. The world is about to hear their fury. California will not sit back. We are going to fight like hell.”

Much has happened in that year; 14 states have passed a total ban on abortion, and 17 states passed their own protections on access to abortion. Other states have passed bans on the abortion procedure after six weeks.

And California is now an abortion sanctuary state, even going so far as to promote “abortion tourism.” Access Reproductive Justice Executive Director Jessica Pinckney said in March the Future of Abortion Council was created in anticipation of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade. “We are assuring that everyone has full access to abortion care.” That means providing abortions to women from other states.”

In November, California voters supported Proposition 1, adding “the right to abortion” into the State Constitution.

In January, House Democrats voted nearly unanimously in opposition to a bill to protect babies born alive following a botched abortion – and all of California’s Democrat House delegation voted against it.

In March, the California Legislative Women’s Caucus and the California Future of Abortion Council announced their 2023 bill package of 17 bills on “reproductive justice” and abortion rights.

In April, Governor Gavin Newsom announced that with a recent U.S. District Court ruling on the U.S. improperly approving the abortion pill Mifepristone over 20 years ago and thereby putting legality up in the air, California would begin stockpiling 2 million pills of the similar drug Misoprostol.

Friday, Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California announced it is marking the one-year anniversary of the overturning of Roe v. Wade with a new video, “One Year Since Dobbs,” and a targeted ad buy that highlights what is being done in California to engage supporters in the continued fight ahead of the 2024 election.

Planned Parenthood of CA uses words and phrases like “sexual and reproductive health care” but they admit what they want is “abortion care with no barriers.” They also state on their website, “Planned Parenthood wants you to get the COVID-19 vaccine,” which obviously isn’t about “reproductive care.”

In addition to the new digital campaign, PPAC continues to highlight the importance of storytelling in the fight for reproductive rights with the “My Body, My Voice” project.

LifeNews.com reported that the battle over abortion is far from over and will be used as a campaign tool for the left. “The three most radical pro-abortion groups in the country endorsed Joe Biden’s re-election campaign because they want to keep the White House, take back Congress and pass a bill to legalize abortions up to birth.”

“They want to stack the Supreme Court with radical pro-abortion judges who would overturn Dobbs.

They want to overturn every pro-life law that is saving babies from abortions.

They want to pass ballot amendments in every state to make it a constitutional right to kill babies.

They want to force you to pay for abortions, abortion travel and insurance coverage for abortions.

They want to mail abortion pills to every women in every state where abortions are banned.

They want to secretly take teenage girls from pro-life states to have abortions in other states without their parents knowing.”

Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California claimed in an email “opponents of sexual and reproductive rights are not stopping at abortion and are also attacking access to birth control, contraception, gender-affirming care, and sex education.  2023 has marked an exponential rise in anti-LGBTQ+ bills. CNN released new data from Movement Advancement Project detailing the dangerous rise in attacks on health care for transgender people with nearly 40% of states restricting gender-affirming care and more considering bans.”

Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California said, “We must take back the House and keep the Senate. And we must continue to have a pro-abortion White House. It’s your body, your voice, your vote.”

Nowhere on their website do they mention the unborn babies.

  1. “Nowhere on their website do they mention the unborn babies.”

Yes, Ms. Grimes. The reason that the Left does not mention the unborn is because they believe that the unborn are a commodity – like toilet paper.

  2. If pop culture glorified abstinence as much as they do homosexuality and drag queen behavior then abortion would not be such an issue.
Pride is about self, that is why it is considered one of the 7 deadly sins.
    Sin? Yes……….SIN!

  3. Sorry to inform you that some Jewish organizations have publicly and vehemently protested the overturn of Roe because “ABORTION IS A JEWISH VALUE.” I will be attacked as an anti-Semite because I’m sending you actual reports by Jews. The final taboo is quoting what some Jews believe. Who knew?

    https://www.npr.org/2022/06/26/1107722531/some-jewish-groups-blast-the-end-of-roe-as-a-violation-of-their-religious-belief

Florida rabbi Barry silver sued the state after the end of Roe because abortion ban infringes on religious rights of Jews. Yes it’s a Jewish right to dismember unborn humans. Like a ritual sacrifice.

Recap: Christians who have abortions are unknowingly participating in a ritual sacrifice that originated with Jewish law. Same with circumcisions.
