Rep Ilhan Omar Saved From Censure By Four Republican Congressman

Too many on the left cheered Charlie Kirk’s assassination, and call Kimmel’s suspension suppression of free speech

By Katy Grimes, September 18, 2025 10:50 am

ABC announced Wednesday that Kimmel’s late-night “comedy” show Jimmy Kimmel Live! has been suspended indefinitely after Kimmel lied and mocked Charlie Kirk’s murder by calling the 22-year-old suspect a member of the “MAGA gang” on his show Monday, effectively accusing conservatives of responsibility for Kirk’s assassination.

Too many on the left cheered Charlie Kirk’s assassination, and call Kimmel’s suspension suppression of free speech.

Brendan Carr, chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, told podcaster Benny Johnson Kimmel’s comments constituted the “sickest conduct possible” and said the FCC could remove affiliate licenses if Kimmel was not punished.

Yahoo News reported “Nexstar Communications Group, which operates more than 20 ABC affiliates, announced it would pull the show from Wednesday, calling Kimmel’s comments ‘offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse.'”

“Similar statements were echoed by Sinclair, which operates ABC’s largest number of affiliates.”

I find Kimmel an unfunny loathsome troll, but the Trump administration’s FCC did not need to put pressure on ABC to cancel his show. Kimmel was well on his way to cancellation himself with a diminishing audience. What Kimmel said on-air was morally reprehensible and should have gotten him fired by the network.

FIRE, the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression, says the FCC has no authority to call for Kimmel’s firing:

“The FCC has no authority to control what a late night TV host can say, and the First Amendment protects Americans’ right to speculate on current events even if those speculations later turn out to be incorrect. Subjecting broadcasters to regulatory liability when anyone on their network gets something wrong would turn the FCC into an arbiter of truth and cast an intolerable chill over the airwaves.”

The Washington Post fired columnist Karen Attiah for her reprehensible social media posts after Kirk’s assassination. MSNBC terminated Matthew Dowd for his bizarre statement, “We don’t know if this was a supporter shooting their gun off in celebration.”

Teachers and college professors are being suspended or fired for posting videos on social media saying even worse things about Kirk’s murder. Those institutions have the ability and legal authority to suspend or terminate those employees.

Doctors, lawyers, neighbors, store clerks, waiters, and baristas have posted truly offensive statements celebrating Kirk’s murder. Some say they are glad he’s dead. Others called him a Nazi. Many have been suspended or fired. The private sector has the legal authority to terminate employees based on decorum which presents the company in a negative light.

Politicians have made extraordinarily awful statements about Kirk’s murder, including California Rep. Dave Min saying “Now that the Charlie Kirk assassin has been identified as MAGA, I’m sure Donald Trump, Elon Musk and all the insane GOP politicians who called for retribution against the ‘RADICAL LEFT’ will now shift their focus to stopping the toxic violence of the RADICAL RIGHT.”

It’s much harder to fire a politician. Depending on the circumstances, members of Congress can be censured or expelled.

According to the House of Representatives, “The Constitution grants the House broad power to discipline its Members for acts that range from criminal misconduct to violations of internal House Rules. The most severe type of punishment by the House is expulsion, which is followed by censure, and finally reprimand.”

“The sternest form of punishment that the House has imposed on its Members is expulsion. The Constitution specifically empowers the House to expel a sitting Member who engages in ‘disorderly Behaviour,’ requiring a two-thirds vote of those present and voting.”

Since 2020, five members of the House have been censured:

Paul Gosar Per the censure resolution, for having “posted a manipulated video on his social media accounts depicting himself killing Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and attacking President Joseph Biden.” November 17, 2021 H. Res. 789 (117th Cong.) 223-207, 1 present
Adam Schiff Per the censure resolution, for “misleading the American public and for conduct unbecoming of an elected Member of the House of Representatives.” June 21, 2023 H. Res. 521(118th Cong.) 213-209, 6 present
Rashida Tlaib Per the censure resolution, for “promoting false narratives regarding the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel and for calling for the destruction of the state of Israel.” November 7, 2023 H. Res. 845(118th Cong.) 234-188, 4 present
Jamaal Bowman Per the censure resolution, for having “forced the evacuation of the Cannon House Office Building and disrupted the work of the Congress as a vote was underway on the floor of the House.” December 7, 2023 H. Res. 914(118th Cong.) 214-191, 5 present
Al Green Per the censure resolution, for conduct during a Joint Address by the President which “disrupted the proceedings of the joint address and was a breach of proper conduct.” March 6, 2025 H. Res. 189(119th Cong.) 224-198, 2 present

Earlier this week, Congresswoman Nancy Mace (R-SC) filed a resolution to censure Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and strip her of all House committee assignments for her vile comments mocking the assassination of Charlie Kirk:

“Ilhan Omar has shown us exactly who she is: someone who defends political violence and refuses to condemn the loss of innocent lives when it doesn’t suit her agenda, even the cold-blooded assassination of Charlie Kirk,” said Congresswoman Mace. “If you mock a political assassination and celebrate murder, you don’t get to keep your committee seat, you get consequences.”

The resolution follows Omar’s September 11 interview on the “Breaking Points” podcast, which she later reposted on her own social media, where she demeaned Charlie Kirk, belittled his grieving family, and all but blamed him for his own assassination.

In the interview, just days after his murder, Omar mocked those mourning Kirk, claiming people who say “Charlie Kirk just wanted to have a civil debate” are “full of s—.” She added, “There is nothing more f—ed up than to completely pretend that his words and actions have not been recorded and in existence for the last decade or so.” When told that millions are mourning Kirk and that some described him as a civil debater, Omar dismissed their grief outright, calling it “complete rewriting of history.”

Omar also shared a separate video calling Charlie Kirk a “stochastic terrorist” and a “reprehensible human being,” accusing him of promoting hatred right up to his final moments.

The House vote to censure Ilhan Omar was taken Wednesday, but four Republicans voted no, killing the censure.

A 214-213 House vote on Wednesday defeated Republican Representative Nancy Mace’s push to censure Omar and remove her from all committee assignments, with the measure failing by one vote, Newsweek reported.

“The Republicans who voted against the measure said they did so to uphold free speech, but they have faced the ire of MAGA commentators who have accused them of betraying their party.”

The four Republicans are Mike Flood (NE), Jeff Hurd (CO), Tom McClintock (CA) and Cory Mills (FL).

California Rep. Tom McClintock, one of the four who helped kill the censure against Omar, posted his reasoning to X:

McClintock is a strict constitutionalist, but this decision is lacking accountability for Omar’s speech. Speech is free in America, but speech that is harmful, or dangerous is not free from repercussions.

Representative Ilhan Omar took the Oath of Office:

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.”

Omar has also publicly pledged her allegiance to Somalia, which also should have earned her censure or expulsion.

She has not faithfully discharged the duties of her office. Her speech is harmful and inciteful, and as a member of Congress she is held to a higher standard of behavior.

“There are a lot of people who are talking about him [Kirk] just wanting to have a civil debate,” Omar told progressive outlet Zeteo. “These people are full of s— and it’s important for us to call them out while we feel anger and sadness.”

As a member of Congress, who is Omar asking to “call them out”? And how will, whoever they are, “call them out”? She is inciting violence, as we just witnessed on the Utah Valley College campus.

Omar added, “There is nothing more fucked up than to completely pretend that his words and actions have not been recorded and in existence for the last decade or so,” further accusing Kirk of posting “hateful rhetoric” on social media, the NY Post reported.

Members of Congress have a responsibility to protect the rights and freedoms of all Americans. The House Ethics committee Code of Official Conduct states:

1. A Member, Delegate, Resident Commissioner, officer, or employee of the House shall behave at all times in a manner that shall reflect creditably on the House.

Omar also shared a separate video calling Charlie Kirk a “stochastic terrorist” and a “reprehensible human being,” accusing him of promoting hatred right up to his final moments.

Whether this was done on the floor of the House of Representatives, or from her living room, Ilhan Omar is still a Congresswoman of the United States, and should have been censured for her actions.

  1. Not surprised to see that I completely agree with Katy Grimes on both counts: The Jimmy Kimmel Disney/ABC FCC issue (let him fail on his own; he was about to be yesterday’s news anyway) as well as the necessary censure of that embarrassment of a potty-mouthed America-hating Rep. Ilhan Omar.

    1. Rep. Ilhan Omar clearly violated the House Ethics committee Code of Official Conduct that a Member, Delegate, Resident Commissioner, officer, or employee of the House shall behave at all times in a manner that shall reflect creditably on the House but Rep. Tom McClintock from California’s 5th Congressional District along with three other RINOs sided with their Democrat cronies and refused to censure and hold Rep. Ilhan Omar accountable for her vile and contemptable speech.

  2. I would like an idea of how many CAGOP collegues communicated with the conservative congressman about the resolution, prior to his vote.
    Compare: NVR

    1. SkunkedinD7 you ask a valid question. My guess would be none of the CAGOP communicated with Mr. McClintock and if they did their encouragement would have been to take the position that he did. It appears when push comes to shove that Mr. McClintock’s conservatism is really shallow. If memory serves me correctly, he has taken similar positions before that protected a liberal from consequences in the name of protecting the constitution.

  3. Omar is stoking violence. She projects on to someone like Charlie, who was not an extremist.
A foreign operative such as Omar deals in lies and would like nothing more than to attack Christian patriotic people.
Not only should she be censored but kicked out of the country. She has committed immigration fraud by marrying her brother!!

  4. Not surprised that a traitorous deep-state RINO hack like Rep. Tom McClintock would refuse to censure Rep. Ilhan Omar for her vile comments mocking the assassination of Charlie Kirk. McClintock previously voted to not censure or fine then Rep. Adam Schiff over his outrageous lies that President Trump had colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election. Schiff put President Trump and the country through hell with his fake allegations of Russian collusion. Meanwhile House Democrats have censured many Republicans in the past including Rep. Paul Gosar of Arizona whom Democrats not only censured but also stripped him of two committee assignments because he had dared to criticize AOC and Joe Biden in a video.

Tom McClintock helped put the Biden regime into power by voting to certify the stolen 2020 presidential election and refusing to acknowledge the many blatant instances of voter fraud. Never forget that McClintock had viciously attacked President Trump at that time falsely claiming that his rhetoric about the stolen election was “utterly irresponsible” and that he had “betrayed” the trust of his supporters. So much for standing in solidarity with a fellow Republican? McClintock instead stands in solidarity with his House Democrat cronies and protects them from censure while laughably claiming he wants to protect open debate.

Most recently McClintock attacked President Trump for imposing tariffs claiming that the power to impose tariffs is a solely a congressional power ignoring the fact that President Trump can impose the tariffs by declaring national emergencies and invoking the 1977 International Emergency Economic Powers Act.

How does a traitorous deep-state RINO hack like Tom McClintock keep getting elected? Maybe he’s installed with voter fraud and rigged voting machines just like his Democrat cronies are? No doubt he’s amassed quite a fortune while being in office all these years?

  5. In 2020, Rep. Tom McClintock was the ONLY House Republican to cosponsor the Ending Qualified Immunity Act, which was proposed in response to the murder of George Floyd and resultant widespread protests. The act was introduced by Justin Amash and Ayanna Pressley and cosponsored by 62 House Democrats in addition to McClintock. The Act would have ended qualified immunity that shields police officers and other government officials from being held personally liable for discretionary actions performed within their official capacity. The Ending Qualified Immunity Act has not been enacted into law.

In the 118th Congress, McClintock voted against multiple motions to discipline Democrats in office, such as the first censure of Adam Schiff, the censure of Rashida Tlaib, and the impeachment of Alejandro Mayorkas. In each, he lamely criticized their actions but he laughably believed the motions were an erosion of the standards to which such motions should be held. Despite making a speech supporting holding Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress for the federal prosecution of Donald Trump, he would vote against holding him in contempt for refusing to release the audio files of the Hur interviews in the Joe Biden classified documents incident.

Is there any question that Rep. Tom McClintock is a traitorous RINO with questionable ethics who might as well switch to the Democrat party to be with his cronies? Maybe the Democrats have incriminating dirt on him?

    1. It’s traitorous RINO’s like Tom McClintock who are Republican’s worst enemies because they always end up siding with their Democrat cronies.

In 2017, McClintock called for special prosecutor Robert Mueller to investigate President Donald Trump claiming that Trump’s firing of James Comey as FBI Director justified a special prosecutor. McClintock is as deep state as they come!

  6. This has been the norm for Tom McClintock, take no action under the umbrella of 1’st amendment free speech. McClintock is also in violation of his oath of office by NOT taking action in this case but it’s not his first time. About 15 years ago when the Tea Party and other Conservative organizations protested against the Obama administration, Obama weaponized the government including the IRS to harrass the groups into submission. McClintock was one of several Republicans who chose not to take action against them. It’s long overdue that Tom McClintock step down from office.

  7. This is living in a glass house and throwing stones.

Trump and the Republicans protecting pedophiles/child molesters while you assail a much lesser cause?

The Epstein stuff clearly not EXCULPATORY thus and therefore looks like the worst of the worst running America and nobody cares.

    1. huh?
      who protected Epstein?
What about obama and biden that did nothing….. It wasn’t until trump was elected that he was prosecuted.
LOL… YOU’RE JUST ANOTHER AHISTORICAL LEFTIST

    2. 2020-2024…. Democrats controlled everything, and they never mentioned epstein once , they never complained about it, they never released anything.
And they never prosecuted him either.
Whether it was the eight years, obama was in charge over the four years, biden was twelve years of the democrats looking the other way

    3. Eyeinthesky. Why did this Epstein information not come out during the Biden administration? They could have stopped Trump from being elected if it exists. I do believe that there is more to the story and that one of the current conspiracy theories might be true. Which one I do not know. I hope that everything comes out and exposes everyone involved regardless of political affiliation. There should not be any free passes to heinous criminal behavior and hopefully we can all agree on that.

      1. A full disclosure engulfs Republicans and Democrats. They’re all criminal operatives attempting to feign sincerity “while Rome burns”.

America is devoid of comprehensives unbiased criminal, legal and fiscal accountability

America’s waning moments and last gasp.

      2. It’s beyond embarrassing to have someone as spineless as Tom McLintock representing California in Congress. But, that’s what us California voters get for voting these morons into office to “represent” us. So in reality, it’s the liberal left majority in California who are to blame. It’s so ironic that the same leadership that falsely accused Trump of inciting the January 6th Capital riot are the same ones inciting violence in the aftermath of Charlie Kirk’s assassination. If you continue to vote these RINO’s and radical extremists into office you will continue to get the same results. Remember the names and act accordingly during the next election cycle.

  8. All four of those RINO jerks should be have to face some one in the primary election .What I do not understand is what happens to these guys after they get to Washington what goes on in their heads are they being bought off or is it the bright lights and good looking women or what .I grew up in Nebraska and nearly every one of those guys especially if they are from the middle or eastern part of the state all end up as nothing but traitors to the people who elected them whats with this crap?

  9. McClintock needs to resign or be recalled over his latest betrayal which is just ridiculous. I live in a neighboring District in Sacramento that’s hopelessly Democrat but I have friends and family who live in McClintock’s district who only reluctantly voted for him in the last election because he didn’t have a Republican challenger and the Democrat candidate was an extreme far left Democrat.

  10. Trump and Johnson should resign NOW! They’re stonewalling evidence that reveals the worst of criminal behavior.

    Pedophiles running America?
    it’s called being compromiseable.

Given the dirt out there neither Trump nor Johnson would be granted a security clearance under normal circumstances.

    1. It looks like one of Hair-gel Hitler Newsom’s bitchy queens from his rapid response media team is here trying to hijack the comment section AGAIN? If President Trump was in any way implicated with Epstein’s shenanigans, your Democrat thug masters would have released it years ago! No doubt you and your Democrat thug masters know all about being pedos?

  11. No more voting machines and make voter ID mandatory and only legal citizens eligible to vote. That would be a good start.
